...one heart at a time.

It seems to me that so many of us are searching for that type of deep and lasting love. We all want more love. And the best way to get more love is to give more love. Here are a few suggestions for increasing the amount of love in the world:

1. Post “I love you” as your Facebook status.
2. Write a love letter to yourself.
3. Give hugs.
4. Tell your friends that you love them.
5. Give someone flowers.
6. Pet a dog.
7. Dance to your favorite song.
8. Buy lunch for a random person.
9. Have a 30-minute kiss.
10. Send an e-card.
11. Send a real card.
12. Meditate.
13. Practice non-judgment.
14. Start a gratitude journal.
15. Bake brownies for your neighbors.
16. Express your creativity.
17. Let someone cut in front of you at the grocery store.
18. Say hello to a stranger.
19. Hold a “free hugs” event in public.
20. Do yoga.
21. Tweet your love to the world.
22. Spend time with children.
23. Read love poems.
24. Go on a date. With yourself.
25. Smile.
26. Take someone out for ice cream.
27. Visit your grandparents or parents.
28. Send a message to an old friend.

I've actually seen people do "free hugs" downtown before. Two lanky college boys in neon t-shirts and homemade signs stood on Michigan by the Water Tower. Ironically, right across the intersection, a big religious group was shouting loudly hateful messages a la Westboro into a megaphone and pumping black and yellow signs into the air. I was grateful that those boys were standing on the corner to offset the other side.
